VIG1 Alexander Defending Philip from attack (10mm)
Details
This shows Alexander defending his injured father Philip II of Macedon.
There are several different accounts of where this happened, at the Siege of Printhius, during a Thracian ambush, after a soldiers mutiny or at the Battle of Chaeronea.
The main point is that by rescuing his father, instead of letting him be killed, Alexander showed that, at that time at least, he was loyal to him and did not desire the crown at any cost.
