Details

This pack contains one Blackburn Firebrand. The design behind the Firebrand stemmed from the lessons learned in the Norwegian campaign in the Second World War. The initial specification it was designed to was for a more powerful, single engine fighter. The Firebrand ended up disappointing as a fighter and was used as a strike aircraft. Pilots found it had poor visibility and was not well suited to carrier operations. It was removed from service in 1953 having been introduced too late for the Second World War.
