USA003 Douglas SBD Dauntless (1:285)
This pack contains a single Douglas SBD Dauntless.
The Dauntless was an American scout plane and dive bomber which was started to enter service on US carriers in 1941. It was a good scout aircraft and arguably the best dive bomber of the war. It could carry a large payload (the 1,000 Lb. bomb was enough to seriously damage even a battleship). Its effectiveness was shown at the Battle of Midway where Dauntless dive bombers accounted for all four Japanese carriers (although it has to be said that luck played its part as well). The Dauntless was replaced by the Helldiver towards the end of the war.
