SRL1c Complete 1:1 Marian or Caesarian Legion (3mm)
This pack of 3mm figures contains a one to one Caesarian Roman Legion. It consists of one double strength first cohort (960 figures), nine standard cohorts (480 figures each), one cavalry unit of 120 figures, one Eagle bearer stand (three figures, with sixteen bodyguard. Would you leave the Eagle un-protected?) one Legate with vexillum and five cavalry bodyguard/messengers and two tribunes with vexillum, mounted messenger and eight bodyguard/response squad. That is a total of 5315 infantry figures and 133 mounted figures.
Following the Marian reforms the Roman Legion was professionalised drifting away from its roots of a citizen army. As such the Legionnaires were equipped by the state with mail, pilum and shield. The professionalisation of the Legions broke the link between soldiers and the Republic. They instead increasingly owed allegiance to their Generals and the promises of land that they offered. This process would eventually bring the end of the Republic and the start of the Empire.
