WSU 630 Il-2M3 Sturmovik x6 (3mm)
This pack contains six Ilyushin Il-2M3 Sturmovik ground attack aircraft.
The 2M3 was a later variant of the Sturmovik with a rear gunner added to make the aircraft less vulnerable to fighters; rear gunners did not have the longest lifespans.
The Sturmovik is seen as one of the most successful Soviet aircraft of World War 2. It was nicknamed the 'flying tank' due to it's armour although remained vulnerable to attacks from both ground AA and fighters. The Soviets often overstated its impact as a ground attack platform, claiming tank kill numbers that are not matched by German tank numbers in the targeted units, let alone actual losses. The Il-2 normally attacked in formed squadrons which increased the morale effect on ground targets.
