Introduced in 1954, the Hunter remained in service until 2014. A total of 1872 aircraft were produced. Employed by 22 countries, the prime users being Great Britain, India, Sweden and Switzerland.

Initially deployed as an interceptor, later models were configured to the light ground attack role.
